i put "Pinterest" in quotes because i never in fact had a real Pinterest board. i would grab images from the internet and save in a folder called "my wedding mood board."
thinking about it, i think it's fun that i still have these images. even though i had 5 weeks to plan my wedding, i found myself under the covers with my phone at 230am giggling at all the colors, details and possibilities! i get you girl! i see you playing on Pinterest at work! it's an addiction and i know your excitement and addiction!
Pinterest, as fun as it is, is FUN! i feel like it should used be a tool to help visually communicate where words can not and i like to use it as a guide being your wedding photographer. i LOVE seeing Pinterest Boards! it gives me a sense of the day - colors, textures, lighting, location. These small details help me to tell your story.
however, i feel like as a photographer, our work is our art and open for creative interpretation and sometimes Pinterest can feel like we are trying to copy or fall into a manufactured request.
i don't think i ever showed a single image from my mood board to my wedding photographer: i was obsessed with her work (http://linaarvidsson.se/) & knew we were the right fit and i trusted her and gave her permission to do WHATEVER SHE WANTED.
i wanted to be my wedding photographer's blank canvas, not recreate moments that were not us.
i did however, show images to my hair & make-up artist and told her:
"THE BIGGER THE BEEHIVE, THE BETTER &
THINK: PRISCILLA PRESLEY."
SOME OF MY FAVORITE (REAL) WEDDING IMAGES:
we married in Malmö's Stadshuset (the city hall of Malmö, Sweden). we were interviewed by local journalist about city hall weddings, we had rice thrown at us, we had our own private champagne and cupcake party at my favorite cupcake shop & the day literally was a whirlwind. but the images are above and beyond anything i could have ever dreamed of. so much love.
